The meaning of Qi is air, breath, or energy. The meaning of Gong is work or practice. Thus Qigong roughly means breathing exercises or energy exercises. There are many different variations. I teach three exercise sets from these.
• Wu Taiji Wai Dan Qigong, which is a more recent exercise set, similarly to the Tai Ji 24-form. It was compiled based on the “8 Pieces of Brocade” from already existing Qi exercises and various Tai Ji movement elements. This can be seen in the video below.
• Nei Dan Qigong, which, in contrast to the movement-based Qigong of Wu Taiji, is a series that uses little movement and focuses more on concentration exercises.
• Taoist intimate and sexual energy exercises.
